Police Beat 1 Crime Prevention Officer

Officer Todd Zettlemoyer started his career in law enforcement as a dispatcher with the Sam Houston State University Police Department in 1994.  In 1996 while attending Sam Houston State University , he was commissioned as a full-time patrol officer with the University Police Department.

Officer Zettlemoyer graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a Specialization in Law Enforcement and Police Science.  In March 1998, Officer Zettlemoyer left the University to work for the City of West University Place in Harris County .

Hurricane Preparedness


With the hurricane season upon us, now is the time to prepare for a natural disaster in order to protect you and your family. Below is important information regarding preperations and precautions. 

Hurricane WATCH vs WARNING:

  • Watch - Hurricane conditions are possible in the specified area of the WATCH, usually within 36 hours.

  • Warning - Hurricane conditions are expected in the specified area of the WARNING, usually within 24 hours.

Assemble a Disaster Supplies Kit :

  • First aid kit and essential medications.

  • Canned food and can opener.

  • At least three gallons of water per person.

  • Protective clothing, rainwear, and bedding or sleeping bags.

  • Battery-powered radio, flashlight, and extra batteries.

  • Special items for infants, elderly, or disabled family members.

  • Written instructions on how to turn off electricity, gas and water if authorities advise you to do so. (Remember, you'll need a professional to turn them back on.)
